THE STORY:
Seeking to emotionally purge after her Mom’s recent death and a bad breakup, Felicia Ryan uproots her life from an Afro Centric DC to live with her BFF Andrea Bennett in the Sunny City of Los Angeles. While Felicia is familiarizing herself with the city through successful one-night stands and hangovers, her best friend Andrea is failing in every attempt of her romantic life. Andrea’s Father, the local Pastor has high hopes that his daughter will find a God-Fearing Man. When Andrea drags Felicia to a Single’s Mingle, Andrea happens to meet potential candidates of the same sex; the girls enter an old-school pact.
WHY THIS STORY:
Our generation of Millennials have witnessed a great deal of scrutiny for our eccentric approach to life. Curious? will definitely add to the scrutiny! As Felicia and Andrea mature in their most curious endeavors, they find themselves tapping into unknown yet exciting areas. As our generation uses Uber, being called hipsters, having our technology on fleek; we are still figuring out life! Our entertainment should reflect the kind of lifestyle we live. None of us had life figured out at 25!! We are a growing generation of Indie Artists, Same- Sex Couples, Militant Rebels, Spiritual Yogi’s, Hard Working and Side-Hustling Young Adults who are happily Curious!
Success of the recent Supreme Court Ruling favoring Same-Sex Marriage have many of my friends leaving their closets wide open. I applaud and support them, remembering some of our wild stories and hidden secrets. In honoring some on the journey, Season 1 of Curious shows how far friends are willing to travel together in order to figure out Life. Within our Community, I rarely see stories that reflect our diverse lives as young African Americans nor positively show Hetero & Homo Sexual storytelling reflecting both female and male perspectives. This Comedic Pilot focuses on the acceptance of sexual identity, spiritual cleansing and the complex relationships of the Millennial Generation as they explore the Curiosities that lie in the shades of gray.
