Luz Maria’s story
I was originally born in Sinaloa Mexico. I came to the United States when I was 15 years old with my father. We use to live in San Diego and then moved to San Jose. I am a single mother of 5 girls. My mom always showed us to work hard and to make a living for ourselves, she also instilled values in each one of us. I am now working hard to support my daughters so that they can reach their goals and do well in life. I like running my business because it allows me time to spend with my daughters. I like cooking for them, taking them to school and helping them with their homework. I have been able to build a loyal customer base, many come find me at the flea market but some also come over to my house to see my products.

More about this loan
My whole life I have worked in sales, distributing merchandise for several companies. I have sold products for Mary Kay and other similar enterprises and always did well, my clients liked me and kept purchasing from me. After a while however, I realized my hard work would only provide a small revenue, so I decided to use my skills in sales to save money from these jobs and invest in buying merchandise to sell at the flea market. I have been doing this now for several years and sell all sorts of different products: perfumes, clothes, beauty products, make-up, etc. I have again built a loyal customer base, of people that continue to stop by. In the long-term I would like to have a storefront where I can sell my products everyday of the week.
What is the purpose of this loan?
It will allow me to buy more merchandise and diversify my sales, helping me grow my customer base and increase the size of my business. This is tun would help me and my family be economically stable, and have more flexibility to spend time with one another.
