The project will work with schools and community based organization to increase awareness among youth and parents about available services to address sexual health, domestic and sexual violence prevention.
In an effort to address teen pregnancy, sexual health, sexual violence and dating/domestic violence in the Claremont/ Morrisania section of the Bronx within boundaries of Community Boards 3 & 4, this initiative will work with Middle School and High Schools in DOE districts 9 & 12 to provide sexual health and violence prevention education to children, parents and educators to address chronic health issues impacting family dynamics and early learning opportunities for youth, parents and the community at large.
Develop a network of school representatives, faith based leaders and social service agencies to engage in discourse around sexual health and violence prevention
Produce public forums to increase awareness of the needs facing this community
Recruit youth leader in high school and middle school to diseminate the message to the school age population in our community
The Morrisania/ Crotona Park section of the Bronx has some of the highest incidences of teen pregnancy and domestic/ sexual violence in NYC
