Fundraising to build two new cinema screens and a panoramic sky bar on the fourth floor of our lovingly restored art deco style cinema.
The Regal Cinema in Evesham is a Grade II listed art deco style cinema, which originally opened in October 1932. After closing in 2003, the building deteriorated and a major restoration project began on the cinema in 2009. After much support from local businesses and members of the community, our doors re-opened in January 2012.
Since re-opening we have had plans to ensure the cinema’s future sustainability by extending onto our fourth floor with two additional smaller screens and a panoramic sky bar with views out towards the Malvern Hills. The extension will not only mean that the business will be more viable long-term, but it will allow us to bring a greater diversity of films, satellite broadcasts and live events to the cinema and the people of Evesham.
After working hard to secure the majority of the total £825,000 investment, this year we began fundraising towards the final £50,000 we need to raise for the extension project to go ahead this autumn. We are delighted to have already raised over £37,000 of this £50,000 through fundraising activities including raffles and auctions.
We have also been raising funds through collection boxes at the cinema and this week we were saddened that two thieves broke down our original 1932 art deco doors and stole two of our fundraising collection boxes. Following the break-in we have been overwhelmed with the support we have received and are now doubling our fundraising efforts to get back on track to reach our £50,000 target by September.
Thank you in advance for your interest and support!
