Rosa’s story

My name is Rosa Vargas I am from Michoacan, Mexico. I come from a small village were people know each other we all work as farmers to support our families. I met my husband when I was 18 years old and married him. I had my first daughter when I was 19 years old I have 4 children total. I have 3 girls and 1 boy. My husband left 4 years later to the United States. We suffered a lot being separated so he emigrated us a year later.

I came here when I was 22 years old I started working in a big company as janitor. I started liking the industry and 5 years later I started my own housecleaning business. I been doing this for the past 24 years. It’s been hard for me especially because I don’t speak English but that doesn’t stop me. I love what I do and it helps me support my family!

This loan is special because:

It supports a working mother expanding her house cleaning services in the San Francisco Bay Area.

More about this loan

Business Description

As I mentioned previously, I started Rosa’s Housekeeping Services 24 years ago. I primarily clean residential homes and apartments and a few small businesses in Hayward. I offer traditional cleaning services: carpet cleaning, vacuuming, window washing and more.

I heard about this program called Kiva that helps small business grow and I felt that there was an opportunity for me to get help to get a loan of $3000 to get a small vehicle for my business.

What is the purpose of this loan?

The loan will allow me to carry more equipment in a more efficient manner. I’ll be able to expand my area of operations and decrease my travel time thus increasing my ability to serve more customers.
