SHISHI, CHINA – KBS Fashion Group Limited (NASDAQ: KBSF) (“KBS” or the “Company”), a leading fully-integrated casual menswear company in China, today announced it has launched an “eco-fashion” campaign (the “Campaign”) to promote environmental awareness and sustainability both at the Company and in the fashion/ apparel industry. The Campaign aims to move the Company towards an ethical and eco-friendly apparel company through environmentally and socially responsible business practices, including: the pursuit of ethical and fair trade standards for our employees, sourcing of materials that are not made from animal products (such as leather) and focus more on re-cycled or man-made materials, the adoption of sustainable manufacturing processes, and the partnerships with suppliers, designers and distributors who embrace responsible practices. This, together with the Company’s recently awarded export license and its intention to become registered as a Fair Trade Partner shortly, highlights our commitment to our global business partners. The Company expects to significantly diversify and expand its international customer base, which promotes only products manufactured under eco friendly standards.
Mr. Keyan Yan, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of KBS, commented, “As concerns over the environment rise both in China and globally, we see the inevitable trend toward “eco-fashion” for the fashion/ apparel industry. While KBS has always been environmentally and socially conscious and responsible in its business practices in the past, we expect the Campaign to drive our commitment and efforts in becoming a responsible corporate citizen to another level. We also call for concerted efforts to promote “eco-fashion” along the fashion/apparel industry value chain.” Mr. Yan finally added that, “KBS is one of the very few Chinese apparel manufacturing companies that have adopted such business practices at a very early stage. In line with our strategy for expanding to the international market, we expect to capture the ever growing European and US demand for products manufactured under environmental friendly and socially responsible practices.”
