My name is Blanca Escobar and I am from Ahuachapan, El Salvador near the border of Guatemala. Ahuachapan is a very small village with maybe 5,000 people. I came from a large family with four brothers and three sisters. My parents sold fruits and vegetables in the marketplace to take care of our poor family.
I emigrated to the United States when I was 23 and married shortly thereafter. I had two daughters with my husband. I had some immigration issues that surfaced a couple of years later and I was briefly deported and my husband left with my daughter Starlit and I have been searching for my daughter ever since.

More about this loan
I have always loved fitness. When I was little girl I would hear music and I fell in love with dancing. When I came to the United States I wanted to take my passion and translate it into an income – and that is how I decided to become a fitness trainer.
After my daughter was taken from me I was depressed and gained a bunch of weight. I used my passion as my motivation and Danny’s Fitness was born. Two years ago I learned of Grameen and they helped me start my business. I am now ready to grow my business and I am excited to grow it with Kiva lender’s help!
My business is located in the Fruitvale in Oakland, CA. I offer three classes a day in Zumba in the morning, afternoon and at night. My classes are highly attended and I work with 15-20 clients in the evenings, a few less during the day and during the afternoon. My clients are mostly women and they are of all ages and sizes.
What is the purpose of this loan?
With this loan, I would like to buy three medicine balls and several dumbbell sets to provide to my clients during training sessions.
