The world’s first Rainbow naturally re-created in the glass box to support of the LGBT community.
About this project
We will re-create the rainbow naturally in the glass box!
HOW THE IDEA WAS BORN
“THIS IS HOW NATURE DOES IT” is a NONPROFIT project that was created to support the equality of LGBTQI people and remind everyone that a person’s sexual orientation is a fact of their nature and deserves equal treatment and rights and respect with the majority.
We came up with the idea about a year ago discussing the “Gay propaganda law” that Russian government came up with a few years earlier. Having lived in the beautiful city of London for the last couple of years, we are lucky to be a part of such a diverse society that welcomes every person regardless nationality, gender, sexual orientation or religion.
Watching our gay friends walking around the city holding hands, kissing and hugging freely without fear to be penalised or arrested, made us think: this is so natural, letting the person be who they are. We couldn’t understand how anyone could MAKE the person change their sexual orientation, surely it’s not a fashion, you CANNOT MAKE or PROPAGANDIZE the person to be lesbian or straight, gay or transgender, this is the way WE were BORN.
And then we saw this picture by Kaç Saat Oldu? in the news where Turkish police blasting Gay pride parade in 2015 with water cannons, accidentally created a rainbow, the symbol of LGBT social movement since 1978. It looked as if NATURE stood up in their defence.
We thought: How great it would be if we could re-create the RAINBOW inside the billboard, displaying the natural symbol of diversity and showing that people are ALL CREATED DIFFERENTLY and being LGBT is NOT A CHOICE – IT IS the person’s NATURE. So we decided to try and re-create the rainbow naturally in the glass box!
THIS IS HOW NATURE DOES IT
HOW IT WORKS
With your support we will build a glass billboard with a special mechanism spraying water inside. The enclosure will be placed in an open space that gets a lot of sun during the day. Sun coming through the water droplets will generate a rainbow within the glass box.
We have proved creating the prototype with the rainbow inside of the box is possible!!!
Research took us a good couple of months as the model making studios we’ve contacted were unable to guarantee re-creating the rainbow effect in the closed space is possible or were asking for an enormous amount of money that we couldn’t afford. Guys from the Faculty of Optics of Odessa I.I.Mechnikov National University showed a great passion when we told them about the idea and were eager to start testing as soon as possible. We were amazed by their knowledge, help and support! THANK YOU!!!
The main problem they’ve come across when testing the prototype was the condensation – water droplets collected on the glass walls preventing you see what’s inside.
To prevent the condensation effect in the box we decided to use the targeted air flow. A similar principle is used in the Bladeless fan. A nozzle in the middle of the fan is used to provide the water directly into the centre of the air flow and that’s where the RAINBOW appears!
The circulation pump is placed in the bottom of construction providing continuous circulation.
* all suitable for IPhone, feel free to choose the plain wallpaper if the one with the Project name doesn’t suit.
*Backers will be able to specify T-shirt size after funding is complete via a Kickstarter questionnaire (S, M, L or XL).
THIS IS HOW NATURE DOES IT will give you an opportunity to bring the “Rainbow Box” to Your city! At each increment of £2000 above the original goal, we will open the polling option on our website allowing all the backers to vote for the city that would host the “Rainbow Box” next (will be applicable to Continental Europe and the UK for a start).
Negotiating with the city authorities requires a lot of work, but our team aims to achieve this goal! Please share the campaign on social media to help us reach our goal and spread the word! The more media attention the campaign gets, the easier it will be for us to convince the authorities to support us!
WE also NEED YOU to help us choosing the design of the “Rainbow Box” – please vote on our website!
WHERE IS MY MONEY GOING?
Your generous financial contribution will primarily fund the creating the Billboard the way we designed it as the parts are quite expensive, shipping it to London, marketing and Kickstarter fee.
If you cannot support the project financially we’d really appreciate if you share it on FB, Instagram or any of your favourite social media channels. We couldn’t be doing this without you guys!
We’ve been working hard last 12 months creating this unique art installation. We are now at the final stage in bringing THIS IS HOW NATURE DOES IT to life.
The impact you can make is extremely important and we need your help now. Your assistance will enable us to produce the “Rainbow box” and show it to the public. Let’s show together HOW NATURE DOES IT.
Thank you for your pledge in advance, and for sharing this campaign with as many people as you can, through word of mouth, social media and email. We couldn’t be doing this without you!!!

Risks and challenges
As with all crowdfunded projects, bringing THIS IS HOW NATURE DOES IT to life will be a thorough and complex task as we turn our prototype into production. There are factors such as sourcing parts, shipping logistics and finding the place to display the installation that can cause possible delays. However, failure is not an option for our team and we’ll do whatever it takes to put our idea into life!
We will for sure keep you up-to-date throughout our journey.
Thank you for your support!
