inVISIBLE: is a collaboration rooted in dance, between dance theater artist Kai Hazelwood and members of the LA bisexual community who have contributed their own stories to the sound score and as inspiration.
inVISIBLE is one part contemporary dance project, one part activist initiative and a whole lotta pARTy! It celebrates the bisexual community using contemporary dance theatre to give voice to a community that is often invisible, its members considered gay or straight depending on the gender of their current partner. inVISIBLE shares the stories of bi sons dealing with frustrated fathers, biphobic mothers, creating the perfect bi superhero and more.
All funds go directly to the production costs and artists fees associated with our first run of shows. We’re excited to be performing Sept 9th and 10th at Highways Performance Space in Santa Monica CA.
Collaborators include: Kate Colman, Kiki K, Molly Yates and Martz Contemporary Dance Company, Barcelona
Our biggest obstacle right now is time! I always seek to work with the best artists for any given project, and that means working around their schedules and mine. We are going to have a jam packed August to have enough time together in the studio to make a show we’re all proud of.
Our September shows are just the beginning. We will take the product of our intense rehearsal period and keep working after we show it. The beauty of this is that we get to take the feedback from our audiences in September and incorporate that into our future development. We want to take this project to bisexual communities and events all over the world!
