Kristen’s story

I am a very ambitious spirit! I hold a master’s degree in mental health therapy and worked for the State of Utah as a Director for 20 years. I was a single mother for over 15 years, putting myself through school, raising my children, and working. I decided to take a early retirement from the State and focus on opening and maintaining my personal businesses. I am in love with doing business on my own and am very proud to be a woman owned business person. I have started three separate and independent businesses, all of which are running still to this day. I am currently seeking funding for my art entertainment business. I started with one store and have grown to three stores with a very high demand for these businesses. I own a construction company with revenues over $3 million and I am a counselor in private practice. I would like to continue to grow my businesses and give back to the community. In all of my companies I have created a charity give back program where I am able to host fundraiser, provide charitable contributions, and volunteer in the community. In my mind I am not in business just for money, I am in business to contribute to the community

This loan is special because:

It helps expand a woman-owned art entertainment & wine education business in Ogden, Utah.

More about this loan

Business Description

I have an art entertainment and wine education business. We teach fun art classes and serve wine during the classes, all while teaching people about the wine they are consuming. We are also the only place in Utah to sell wine ice cream. We have our own line of chocolates and sale a unique variety of boutique items. Our concept is to have a one stop shop for a girl’s night out- shopping, a glass of wine, and a fun activity. However, we don’t just appeal to the girl’s night. We offer kids camps, family night events, private parties, birthday parties, charity events, etc.

My biggest challenge is cash flow based on the eb and flow of customers. My customer base varies from children to adults. We started with one store but had such a high demand for our classes that we were turning people away. Therefore, we opened two more stores in the state to accommodate the number of customers. We exhausted a lot of our cash flow in opening the stores and will need to recoup some funds for day to day cash flow. We project doubling our revenues next year as we just opened the two stores in April of this year. We are running at 70% capacity between all three stores currently. Previous to opening the 2 new stores we were running at 85% capacity. We have seen a small dip in our main store as we focus marketing at customer awareness for the other 2 stores.

My hope is to open a 4th store in the southern part of Utah as the current stores are all in the northern part of the state
