My name is Ana Escobar and I came to the United States when I was 18 years old from a small village called San Vincente in El Salvador. My dad was a farmer and my five brothers and I worked on the farm from a very young age to help support the family. I sold mangos, hicama and cucumbers and many other seasonal fruits and vegetables.
After moving to the United States I settled in Oakland and shortly thereafter started a family. I have a three year old daughter named Ashley.
I began cooking Salvadorean dishes and selling them to my neighbors. I also started cleaning houses with a friend of mine and found out that I could make a decent living. Shortly thereafter, I decided to work for myself.
