Raised in Baltimore City, I watched my mom and other moms dejected by not following their dreams of owning their own business because they had children. Growing up in West Baltimore the odds of being anything was against me. Every day I watched everyone around me do the same thing day in and day out while being miserable. I was determined to NOT be that person. I went to Coppin State University and received a degree in management and Strayer University where I received my MBA. Upon graduating undergraduate school, I birthed both my daughter and my first business. I felt that being a mom was the least of anyone’s worries when it came to actually following the dream of entrepreneurship. As I studied and grew my entrepreneurial skills further I realized that in Baltimore it was the lack of resources available for moms to stay motivated and learn balance. As a mom, wife, entrepreneur, doctorate candidate and professor I am determined!!! I always had dreams of being my own boss and moving to the beat of my own drum and that is exactly what I am doing. Through adversity I am determined to not live the status quo. Upon moving forward in my entrepreneur career I was immediately knocked down by the sudden death of my brother. I went through a time where I questioned my purpose and whether I could be successful. I thank God for mentors who quickly helped me get through a rough time and invested in me. I now wear many hats successfully. Each hat I wear has given me the inspiration to birth businesses that will help others be successful! Today I am excited to finally launch The Cube to help moms follow their entrepreneurial dreams. My journey through life wasn’t easy but I refuse to allow it to dictate my future, I am determined to continue to build successful businesses that impact the future of our society!

More about this loan
One of the principal challenges I faced as a mom entrepreneur is learning how to balance the requirements of my child with the needs of my business and other areas of life. Because of those challenges I created The Cube, is a co-working space where moms can escape the traditional or home office environment with the ability to utilize babysitting services and conference room space. The Cube mission is to provide co-working space for the current or aspiring mom entrepreneur at an affordable cost. The Cube helps moms to get things done without the stress of finding a babysitter or paying high daycare fees. The Cube is a membership-based model where our members are provided a plethora of services that are included but not limited to the following: Work Space, Conference Room Space, Babysitting Services, basic office necessities and other business building tools.
My biggest challenge with starting The Cube was finding a location!!! Location of course plays a huge role in the success of this business and finding one that was affordable and met the needs of the company services was a huge challenge.
Through The Cube my goal is to help build more mom owned businesses allowing moms to see they don’t have to stop following their dreams because they are moms. According to a 2010 study by the U.S. Department of Commerce, Economics and Statistics Administration, women typically expect lower levels of business growth in terms of sales and employment. One explanation given is that women business owners, on average, are still spending more time dealing with childcare than their male counterparts. My goal I change this statistic!
I am proud to launch The Cube because as a mom I know the struggles of finding a sitter and that whole balance thing.
