Be apart of a 4 song journey told through instrumental Progressive Metal. Help me fund my first EP – Sonder.
About this project
“Sonder – n. the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own—populated with their own ambitions, friends, routines, worries and inherited craziness—an epic story that continues invisibly around you like an anthill sprawling deep underground, with elaborate passageways to thousands of other lives that you’ll never know existed, in which you might appear only once, as an extra sipping coffee in the background, as a blur of traffic passing on the highway, as a lighted window at dusk.”
-The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows
When I was very young, I had this realization and it greatly affected the way I think of everyone that I met. At that moment, I tried to imagine the immense complexity of the lives of others; how many people they are connected to, what kind of events are occurring, and how they just so happened to cross paths with mine. In the title track of this EP, I tried to emulate this moment in a person’s life.
Sonder also features 3 other instrumental tunes that emulate a different moment of realization in a person’s life. The first track, Wavelengths, is the realization of different opinions and states of mind. The second track is the title track, Sonder, The third track, Lullaby, is about all of those times you are trying to get to sleep, but your mind keeps wandering. Last but not least, the final track, I Like Space, is about the realization of something you are astounded by.
Ever since I was a child, I have had a connection with music. In every song I heard I found that the music has more meaning to me than the lyrics. When I first picked up playing guitar all I wanted to do was write music. I didn’t care to learn songs, I wanted to make my own and share them with others. Just the though of my music impacting another person’s life drove me to become better.
With collaboration with the Progressive Metal community, I held auditions for the guest solo spots I left open on this EP. I did this to diversify the sound of the EP and to get more people involved with this awesome project. I have a lot of faith in these songs and I can’t make this EP happen without your help. Once this project is funded I will have enough money to hit the studio to record these songs, get them mixed and mastered, and distribute the EP worldwide.
Risks and challenges
Like all Kickstarter campaigns the biggest risk is not reaching the funding goal. If goal isn’t reached all of your money will be returned and I will not be able to record this album and make all of the merchandise. However, I have a lot of faith in the wonderful Kickstarter community to help me get this EP out there!
