Tao’s story

I was born and raised in China and spent most of my life in Western China near the Silk Road. I studied Mathematics in university and used my skills working in various businesses and in a number of different industries. But I always thought about food because it’s what people love and consume everyday. Life was good in China but I wanted to make a better life for my family.

I came to the United States in 2000 with my entire family. I have 1 daughter and 1 son. During the first few years in the United States I worked many different restaurant jobs and saved enough money to open up my first restaurant, TW Burmese Restaurant, where we serve Asian inspired cuisine from Southeast Asia.

This loan is special because:

It helps expand this traditional Burmese restaurant located in the Bay Area.

More about this loan

Business Description

TW Burmese Restaurant has now been in business for 2 years. Operating a business for the first 2 years is a very difficult thing to do. There were many challenges with the costs of materials, finding customers, and paying rent. We worked through the struggles and have been able to gradually build our customer base in the East Bay. We are now ready to expand and make the improvements necessary to become an amazing restaurant.

We are located in San Ramon, CA and want to offer the best experience for our customers. With the improvements I want to make, we can expand our offerings and equipment to better serve our customer base.

What is the purpose of this loan?

A $10,000 loan from Kiva will help us remodel the kitchen space and secure better equipment. With those changes we will be more efficient and be able to serve our existing customer base faster, and better.

A $10,000 loan from Kiva will help us remodel the kitchen space and secure better equipment. With those changes we will be more efficient and be able to serve our existing customer base faster, and better.

We will use the remaining portion of the loan to put towards securing our beer and liquor license. This will help us bring in additional customers.

The total project cost for these items is much more than $10,000, but I have worked hard to raise money from friends and family, and my personal savings, to cover the majority of these costs. $10,00 will be the perfect amount to complete the work we need!
