Hello, my name is Warren Hirsch. From reenacting intergalactic battles with action figures and legos or just messing around with a block of clay, I’ve constantly been seeking to bring my ideas to life. In middle school I made a small dragon sculpture which I was later commissioned by my instructor to make a small run available for those that had expressed an interest in owning one. This provided me with an early opportunity to satisfy more than just supply and demand: I was the creator of something that I was able to share with others. It is my vision to continue sharing my creations with the world.
I have a BAS in Animation and Visual Effects from Expression College for Digital Art which is where I met my business partner and friend Darren Wong. Together we have formed Hikarimono for the purpose of creating what we love, constructing new worlds and the stories that drive them. We want to inspire children and adults alike with our imaginative creations in the form of figurines, maquettes, and model kits.
Hikarimono is the first step.

More about this loan
Hikarimono is a design and fabrication studio started by Warren Hirsch and Darren Wong that specializes in designer toys. Our goal is to build a business that creates high quality products for people who enjoy customizability that lends itself to the maker community. Kiva will help Hikarimono grow into more than just a business. Eventually, Hikarimono will become an idea engine helping to fuel and grow the maker community as a whole. We are using toys as a gateway and platform to demonstrate our skill-set in manufacturing and marketing capabilities. We have ties in the video game and film industry having worked on such titles as Captain America and Pirates of the Caribbean.
What is the purpose of this loan?
The purpose of this loan is to acquire the tools and machinery that we need for development and production that will enable us to refine our prototype and execute our target goals. This Kiva loan will help jump start us into full production. We already have prospective clients in SF Laser and the Visual Effects Society and other media companies. A portion of the loan will go to a professional 3D printer and the Polyurethane and Silicon materials needed to produce our products. A portion will also go to media purposes like advertising, and packaging. The rest will be used for general shop tools and securing a larger shop space to increase productivity.
Years in operation: 6 months – 1 year
A loan of $10,000 helps acquire equipment, boost our advertising, and gain working capital for my business.
