During 2015/16 , Baltic Records from Liverpool and Dead Buttons from South Korea embarked on an ambitious project. We decided to make a record together. We wanted to become one of the first labels to pioneer a meaningful partnership between Liverpool and Seoul. The project was born out of an exchange of ideas between Liverpool Sound City and Zandari Festival.
A delegation went to Seoul in October 2015 to move the project forward and to hear the Dead Buttons album, as well as many bands from Liverpool. The project involved booking Dead Buttons a European Tour. This ended up taking the band across 6 countries and playing iconic venue in many countries. They also played Primavera Festival in Barcelona. The duo became the first Korean band to be featured on a session on Radio X. They were also the first Korean band to be a “hot one” from Mercury prize judge John Kennedy.
We would like to commemorate the tour and the achievements of the project with a limited vinyl and cd release.
