Breathe in Detroit grew from a simple idea and a single design I created to signify a period of personal growth and new beginning in my life. I decided to start this company in March of 2015 after my partner joined me and provided the strength, encouragement and support I needed to make what had been a dream into a reality. From the outset, we did not want to be just another apparel company, we wanted Breathe in Detroit to make an impact on the communities it lives in. The company is driven by a set of core principles and the most important of those is giving back. We’re committed to being active in the community and involving others in our projects. We are a local apparel company. We source locally, support local business efforts and fund, host and sponsor fundraising events with the proceeds from the sale of our products. Every purchase also includes a direct donation to a specified local non-profit. This is especially important because our customers are all a part of the communities that their purchases support. Our apparel spreads a positive message and creates positive change while doing it. I am very proud to say that we are becoming a visual and actual representation of positivity and community growth and awareness. We are now able to use our company to fund projects and support other businesses and organizations whose missions we believe in, and we hope to keep growing in our influence and capability to help. We have already expanded to both Chicago and Los Angeles, partnering with local organizations and businesses in those cities, and have plans to keep the momentum going!
What is the purpose of this loan?
We will spend $3200 on office and production equipment and supplies, $2700 on marketing collateral and photography, and $3100 on inventory and travel for upcoming events. We expect these purchases to increase our profit by lowering production costs by 20%. Our revenue will be significantly raised due to our capability to travel to and purchase inventory for large events specific to our target market, increasing revenue by approximately 55% compared to last year. Additionally, we expect this investment in equipment, inventory and travel to increase our products’ reach both in wholesale and direct revenue channels across the board.
This loan will create a more solid foundation for the business and ensure its continued growth, which will allow myself and my family to impact our community in a positive way and provide jobs for both ourselves and others.
