Growing up in Detroit, I have many great memories and had lots of good experiences. My father, a business owner himself, had me start my first business at the age of 10: Jamal Enterprises. Obviously, a “subsidiary” of his company, but mine none the less. I helped him shovel snow and cut grass at Payless Shoes locations across Michigan. I had to quote him a price and once the job was completed, I had to create an invoice to get paid. It was my father who gave me the “Entrepreneurial Spirit” and taught me the basics of business from an early age. To control your own destiny, to create wealth for your family based off of an idea you created; to do good in my community. THAT is my American dream.
