My family immigrated from Laos in the mid 80’s and I am the first generation born in America. I grew up in Oakland Ca. with my 4 siblings and cousins. Growing up in Oakland I knew that there was a lot of potential in this big city. I met my husband while in school and started our family young. We are blessed with 5 beautiful kids and have always been self sufficient. We worked hard from the moment that we were able to and have not stopped since. Working 10 hour shifts 6 days a week for the last 7 years helped us save enough to buy our restaurant. For the past 1 and half year our family have been working hard to keep our dream of owning our very own business alive and to help sustain our family.

More about this loan
We serve a fusion of Latin American cuisines and are open 5 days a week for breakfast and lunch. We got great reviews from the local Foodie magazine in our town and from customers on yelp. Most of our customers are office workers from the surrounding buildings and the occasional foot traffic that we get from the train station. We face a lot of challenges because of our location, which is great because of the foot traffic, but also challenging because of all of the competition. With the minimum wage in our city jumping 30% to $12.35 in a matter of 3 months after we open we almost thought that our dream was going to have to end. We managed to stay afloat for the past year and a half and need some help to move to the next phase in our business.
What is the purpose of this loan?
Having more help will increase revenue because we will be able to meet the demand for office delivery of our food and help more people for the lunch hour. The loan will help our business add the catering phase for our business.
Years in operation: 1 year – 3 years
A loan of $10,000 helps Francy hire 2 part time employees to expand our catering menu.
