We are off to the National Arts Festival in June and are raising funds to get there and cover costs. We are asking you to sponsor our km to G-town which is 1000km. It costs R20 a km so please buy some kms and get the company there!!!
Get the Matchbox Theatre Collective to the National Arts Festival 2016.
We are trying to raise funds to get MTC to National Arts Festival 2016 in Grahamstown. The funds we need are for three peoples accommodation at the Rhodes University Residence for 7 nights at R410 each a night. That totals R8610.
We need to raise funds for the transport costs to Grahamstown and back in petrol and toll gates R2000.
In order to perform at the National Arts Festival you have to pay venue hire per performance as well as a registration fee to participate. Participation Fee for each show is R5000. Totals R10 000. Venue Hire R3150 for each show. Application Fee each show at R700. Marketing in the local Cue newspaper and extra Marketing is R3210 for If these bodies could speak and R2610 for Giftig.

The most important thing at the National Arts Festival is the marketing of the shows as there as so many wonderful shows to choose from !
We have a clever marketing strategy and that is our flyers which are Matchboxes with bright stickers on them advertising when and where are shows are on. Since we are the Matchbox Theatre Collective this is the main part of our marketing. R4000 is the cost of our marketing campaign.

MTC Background:
Bailey Snyman is an award winning choreographer (SBYA for dance 2012) and a published academic with a Master’s degree in Choreography and Contemporary performance. Currently he is registered as a Doctoral Candidate at the University of the Witwatersrand. Bailey is a passionate lecturer of dance, choreography, theatre design and performing arts management at the University of Pretoria drama department.
As a co-founder and associate artistic director of Matchbox Theatre Collective, Bailey, continuously strives to re-invigorate the South African dance scene by inspiring young rising talents. That’s how his career started and now he wants to pay it forward.
Nicola Haskins has a Master’s degree in Performance and Choreography. She is a specialist in Physical Theatre, Dance Culture and Education, Mime, Choreography and Theatre Studies. Nicola is co-founder and associate artistic director of Matchbox Theatre Collective.
Nicola has performed for choreographers such as PJ Sabbagha and Dada Masilo. She has performed in France, Italy, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany and Austria. At present she is touring with Dada Masilo on her Swan LakeProduction. Nicola has won multiple awards for her choreographies and has become renowned as a formidable performer.
Bailey Snyman and Nicola Haskins are the Matchbox Theatre Collective and create Dance Theatre and Physical theatre productions that entertain, inspire and excite. They are passionate about creating a dance theatre audience in South Africa. We both lecture and teach at various University and school Institutions so as to generate a future south african theatre going community.
