Photographer Without A Camera

I started doing conceptual art in 2012 when I was still in the UK. It started slow, however in the last year, business has exploded! I’m currently co-authoring a book with Di Smith, author of ‘Awesome South Africa.’ Best of all, I have business cards! Worst of all, I no longer have a camera and it being my bread and butter, its rather important.

About This Project

Quick Intro

Hi, I’m Keren, born in SA, raised in the UK 9that was easy). My folks decided to emmigrate when I was 16, resulting in me losing the last two years of schooling. No complaining, just some background…

Fast forward 12 years and I’m back in my homeland without a matric, BUT, with my own startup business! I’ve been doing fine art and conceptual photography since 2012 and have since built up a following. I’m currently co-authoring a book which will be out at the end of the year! Exciting stuff indeed.

My work mainly deals with mental illnesses, namely depression and bipolar disorder. I find the human mind and imagination a wondrous tool and I try and evoke emotions in people through my art. Creativity is easily one of humanities most misunderstood processes, yet its provided almost everything we have today.

Every single thing out there, from the internet, to airplanes to chilli chocolate, stems from imagination, creativity. Someone has been crazy enough to think of a thing and make it happen.

I feel there’s nothing in my imagination that cannot become a reality. Simple.

I’m Here Because…

My Business need funds. I’ve been using a second hand Canon 5D MK 1 and it has recently decided to be unco-operative. Again! I’ve sent it in for repairs about 2 years ago, however now, its demise has been confirmed to be permanent. *sad violin plays*

Having a camera is pretty important to my business (putting it mildly) I need a camera to make money, and I need money for a camera. Catch 22.

What I’m Wanting

I’m wanting to raise at least R35 000 to replace my current Canon 5D and, depending on how well this campaign goes, purchase two additional lenses, lighting and underwater housing..

With additional lenses, comes more scope for what I can create, for example, waterproof housing for underwater shooting etc.

I’m hoping that 5000 lovely people would just donate R10 that I’ll be able to continue doing what I do.

Thank you, and much love x

The Team

I’m an introverted, tea loving, book reading dreamer. I love short walks to the fridge. I don’t like exercise and I doubt it likes me. I’m married, no children and have been doing conceptual photography since 2012.
