Last year, Effects of Grace Ministries (EoG) helped a number of Philippino pastors travel to the United States for fundraising and pastor training, the latter of which I was thankful to help provide. Together with Rodney Skyles, President of EoG, and Phillip Dancy, Senior Pastor of Sylvania Church, we trained the men in Christ-centered preaching, biblical church leadership, and biblical worship.
The experience produced for me ongoing relationships with the Philippino pastors and inme the desire to see more pastors equipped to faithfully shepherd God’s people.
To that end, I was beyond excited to join the Effects of Grace Ministries Board of Directors in January of this year, and even more excited to learn of the potential to provide comparable, yet more extensive training to pastors Africa, a continent plagued by the so-called “prosperity gospel” and almost entirely lacking in Christ-centered training for pastors.
After praying and with the encouragement of my wife and elders, I’m planning to travel with EoG from August 20-27, 2016 to the bush of Zimbabwe, Africa, for the purpose of training indigenous pastors to more faithfully lead their congregations in the pursuit of Christ.
As is the case with the Christian life, I can’t do this without help.
While the accommodations aren’t exactly the Ritz Carlton (we’re sleeping in tents in the bush of southern Africa), the trip is costly because of incredibly high travel expenses.
In short, I need to raise $4,400 by August 13, 2016.
Will you:
(1) Pray for wisdom as we plan the curriculum for the trip?
(2) Pray for our efforts to be effective in equipping, blessing, and encouraging the African pastors?
(3) Pray for God to make the gospel take root more deeply in Zimbabwe?
(4) Pray about supporting this trip financially?
Thank you for considering!
