A company, of 17 sixth form students, set up on the Young Enterprise scheme trying to help create a more sustainable, greener World!
Did you know one third of the food we buy is never eaten? From this shocking figure, Green Bean Co. was formed. We identified wastage as the 21st century’s leading problem and one thatwe could play a part in addressing!
Green Bean Co. is part of Young Enterprise – a competition that encourages young people throughout the UK to build a team and develop a company. This involves promoting the product, going to trade fayres, raising money and presenting our business to judges at competitions. We are currently representing South Yorkshire at the Yorkshire and Humber finals and hope to be the first team from our area to earn a place at the nationals.
Our product is not just a ‘grow your own’ vegetable kit; we have combined the nutrients in peat free soil with recycled coffee grounds to make a more eco-friendly soil for our herbs to grow in. Adding coffee grounds to soil brings down the cost whilst still keeping all the same nutrients as pure soil but not stunting the growth time. Everything you need for growing your own organic herbs are included in the kit, all you have to do is plant the seeds in the soil and water frequently to achieve great looking and tasting organic herbs.
