Revolutionary Technology for More Efficient, Affordable Wind Energy

Introducing the Leviathan Wind Energizer: the game-changing, patented, proven technology from Leviathan Energy that harnesses the power of aerodynamics to dramatically increase output and reduce maintenance costs for wind farms around the world.

It starts with retrofitting more than 300,000 large wind turbines already in operation around the world. It ends with redrawing the boundaries on the world wind map, and making wind energy a more effective, more efficient, and more affordable source of renewable power on a global scale.

One of the defining stories of the past few years—in the worlds of science, business, and politics alike—has been our global quest to replace fossil fuels and other environmentally catastrophic energy sources with cleaner, more sustainable renewable energy sources.

Wind power has long been recognized as one of the most promising sources for renewable energy. There are currently 300,000 wind turbines in operation on wind farms around the world, and that number is growing at a rate of 30,000 turbines per year.

Wind power is already getting close to matching coal in terms of cost-effectiveness. But as powerful of a force in the sustainable energy landscape as wind farms are, there is still room for improvement.

The question the wind energy industry is asking is this:

That’s where Leviathan Wind Energizer comes in. We’ve designed a solution that significantly enhances wind farm output, reduces windmill maintenance, and allows wind farms to produce more power more efficiently and more cost-effectively than ever before.

The Wind Energizer™ isn’t just good for business: it’s good for the environment. Because the Wind Energizer works to improve the output of existing wind turbines, as well as accompanying new ones, our solution is the fastest way to combat climate change.

In short: with the Wind Energizer™, Leviathan Wind Energizer has developed a solution that will revolutionize how wind power is produced on wind farms around the world.

Plenty of companies out there are looking to new, unexplored technologies to solve the renewable energy problem. But at Leviathan, we’re focused on improving the solution we already have, and finding ways to make existing wind farms and the 300,000 wind turbines already in operation around the world more efficient and more cost-effective.

Leviathan Energy uses Computational Fluid Dynamics to create models of the relationship between wind flow and turbine geometry, then uses those models to design and build a structure, called a Wind Energizer (TM), that optimizes the turbine’s energy output.

When a Leviathan Wind Energizer is placed between the turbine and the wind, it increases the wind velocity in the plane of the blades, which in turn increases the amount of power that the turbine is able to generate. Because the Wind Energizer makes the velocity at which the wind hits the blades of the turbine more uniform, it also reduces the amount wear on the turbine, substantially reducing maintenance.

The result:

Each turbine retrofitted with the Leviathan Wind Energizer adds 1-2MM kilowatt hours per year to the grid — an output increase of 20-40% in high-speed wind farms, and sometimes over 100% at lower-speed farms.

By reducing the amount of wear on the turbines, the Wind Energizer dramatically reduces the amount of maintenance—and maintenance costs—that turbines require.

By increasing output and reducing maintenance, the Wind Energizer substantially improves the economics of wind energy production. The Wind Energizer pays for itself within 4 years of installation, and allows wind farms to produce more energy more cost effectively — savings that they can pass along to their customers.

Because the Wind Energizer is designed to increase the energy output of wind turbines at any wind speed, it makes millions of new square kilometers available for wind farms in regions that were previously considered unsuitable for the technology.

In short: With the Wind Energizer, Leviathan Energy is paving the way to a new era of efficiency and effectiveness in the wind power industry — all without replacing a single wind turbine.

In 2010, Leviathan received 3rd place at Israel Cleantech Open for the Wind Energizer concept, and in 2012 was granted its first US patent for the principles underlying the Wind Energizer design. GE evaluated it as a potential game changer. Some smaller wind turbine manufacturers unsuccessfully requested exclusives.

With its prototype complete, its technology already proven on a small scale, and customers already lining up on the condition of a large scale demo, the Leviathan Wind Energizer is nearly ready for its commercial debut. Up next for Leviathan Energy: it’s time to prove its technology with a pilot that will demonstrate the effectiveness of the Leviathan Wind Energizer on a commercial scale.
