The Irish Eventing Team for the Rio Olympic Games needs to raise funds to ensure they have the best possible chance of winning a medal. The funds will go towards transporting the 5th horse and team support projects.
Ireland has been making huge improvements over recent years on the world stage of Eventing, with some impressive results at all of the major Internationals in 2015, culminating with the team winning the final leg of the Eventing Nations Cup in Boekelo, Holland at the end of the season. The team have been training very hard all winter and are now ready to face the challenges of the season ahead in the build up to the Olympic Games in Rio d’Janeiro in August.
There is a huge amount of preparation work that goes in to ensuring the whole Team of horses, athletes, grooms, owners and support staff arrive at a major championships and Rio 2016 is no exception! We will be sharing some of the preparations with you and also, giving opportunities for some to be part of the build up.
The Horse Sport Ireland High Performance Squad are currently supported by the Irish Sports Council, Eventing Ireland and a private donor, but order to give the team the very best chances in Rio, we need to raise funds for the reserve horse, extra training days, physiotherapists, sports psychologists and support at competitions which will give us the best chance to aim for a podium finish.
We will be creating some fundraising events as well as competitions which will give some of you a chance to meet some of the potential Irish Eventing Team squad for Rio in August 2016.
Please support us and share the information so that we can arrive in Rio with the best preparation and support of any nation!
