Help me to raise half of my tuition and college fees for a two year part-time postgraduate programme at the University of Oxford.
Hi, my name is Victoria Lee. I am new to crowdfunding and you may be too.
My life goal
My goal in life is to help support people through the design of cities, buildings and spaces. Having lived both in the UK and in Trinidad in the West Indies, I have a passion for working with cities across the UK as well as those in developing countries.
Why this programme is important?
Well-designed cities are crucial as the world population is set to increase from its current total at 7.3 billion to 9.7 billion by 2050. London, on the upper end of the spectrum, is estimated to increase to 13 million in 2050, 50% more than it is today at 8.5 million. Planning and designing better buildings and cities for tomorrow can help to ensure people would be safe, healthy and happy in these dense, urban environments.
What I am seeking crowdfunding for?
I’ve recently applied and have been accepted to the MSc in Sustainable Urban Development at the University of Oxford. The programme focuses on how cities across the world can continue to grow in a sustainable way, for the benefit of people, the environment and the economy. For me this is a great accomplishment.
What makes me a good candidate?
I believe that I can make a difference. My academic and professional experience in architecture, urban design, city planning and public consultation provide me with a good foundation to help address these issues. I am currently a Built Environment Design Advisor at Design Council Cabe, an independent charity helping to improve the quality of buildings, spaces and services for the public good.
What am I doing to seek funding outside of crowdfunding?
Crowdfunding is one of the ways I hope to raise money for my tuition and college fees, but not the only way. I will be working and studying at the same time throughout this part-time degree, and have been applying to other relevant grants.
Your contribution, however small, will mean so much to me and sharing this link will be a great help as well. Thank you so much for your kindness and feel free to get in touch!
