A loan of $1,775 helps Makhburat to buy seeds and to cultivate the land in order to grow organic corn.

 

 

Makhburat’s story

Makhburat successfully repaid her loan after using it as intended. She is grateful to Kiva and everyone who contributed to her loan.Through Makhburat’s hard work, now she has a 0.8 hectares of allotted land on her own on which every year corn and watermelons are grown for household consumption and for sale. There are also cows, horses and three sheep on the farm. Makhburat asked Bai Tushum Bank once again for a loan in the amount of 120,000 som (KGS) to buy corn seeds and to purchase fertilizers to cultivate environmentally friendly products. Makhburat wants to invest proceeds from the loan in the development of her business.

These loans also help people in remote areas access lighting and heating for their households, promote green energy products and help reduce energy expenses. The program includes a 5% rebate of annual interest at the end of loan terms if all repayments are made on time. By funding this loan, you are helping low-income residents improve self-sufficiency, expanding domestic farmers markets and direct producer-to-consumer market opportunities, and making strides against poverty.
