Thirsty Mind, Love and Starvation Sitting in a Lonely Tree

Shiny lies, physical hyperbole, & naked flesh expose a chaotic reality where the Gang shares their journey for love and creation!

About this project

Thirsty Mind, Love and Starvation Sitting in a Lonely Tree … is a typical story of an artist struggling in NYC hungry for love and knowledge to produce work while dealing with housing, money and job situations. Alice in wonderland.. She fell asleep under the tree & dreamed about the future imagining her struggle was just an adventure so she can survive her journey.

Choreographer Antonio Ramos fabricates a gloriously chaotic performance from shiny lies, physical hyperbole and naked flesh in an attempt to find the glitter trail to truth. With an eye towards exposing the invisible marketplace – where transactions are made in bodies and paid for in program notes – Ramos and his six Gang Bangers present exaggerated and abstracted characters created from personal neuroses dredged up through the labor of “making things.” Peter Richard’s video installation frames the live event with evidence of drug-induced source material, surveillance of the performers’ transformations and debris from all tomorrow’s parties, putting into question what truths are currently valued in the making and performing of live dance.

Risks and challenges

Working with seven dancers and a team of amazing collaborators has been incredible. It also means that there are more people to compensate and they are worth every penny! We have been in creation of this show on and off over the past year. With only a month left before our opening we are in the studio continuing to rehearse and make this show the most chaotic and exciting that we can for you!

This amount of rehearsing comes at no easy cost and I need your help to show my dancers and collaborators my appreciation for their hard work and thirsty minds to keep dance alive! All proceeds will be going to my dancers: Luke Miller, Rebecca Wender, Darrin Wright, Alvaro Gonzalez, Sarah White-Ayon, Adele Loux-Turner, Rennie Lachlan McDougall, Antonio Ramos, as well as to my collaborators: Miguel Gutierrez (Music Coposer), Claire Fleury (Costume Design), Sam Gassman (Set Design), Amanda Ringger (Lighting Design), and Peter Richards (Video Installation).

It is due to these artists that my vision for this work is coming to light and I want you to join in witness of it during our show June 2-5 at Jack! I can’t do it on my own and need your help, please support the Gang Bangers make this show thrive as we know it can.
