Hi there! I’m Taylor Edelhart, an NYC-based theatremaker. My newest play, MOUSE, is having its world premiere at The Brick’s TransFest this June, and I need your help to make it happen! Every dollar you donate goes directly to supporting the amazing team of artists and designers that have come together to create this piece.
MOUSE is the story of a robot whose life is destroyed by the presence of a mouse in his apartment. Inspired by “The Tell Tale Heart”, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and our modern addictions to tech and routine, MOUSE explores hyper-capitalism, the post-apocalypse, and how we humans project our problems onto the technology we create in our image.
I’ve brought together a top-notch team of designers and artists to build the world of this play. TEAM MOUSE is:
Director: Bryn Herdrich
Scenic Design: You-Shin Chen
Lighting Design: Elizabeth Stewart
Costume Design: Rhys Roffey
Sound Design: Dan Rider + Clara Swan-Streepy
Projections Design: Jaye Hunt
Assistant Projections Design: Neo Cihi
Dramaturgy: Jess Katz
Co-Production and Props Design: Cassidy Dawn Graves
Stage Manager: Lawrence Richardson
Our performance dates are set and all of our rehearsal space has been paid for, but we need to raise $5,000 to pay and support the incredible artists creating this show. Here’s a breakdown of what we’re fundraising for:
ARTIST STIPENDS: $1,450
OUR DESIGN BUDGET: $1,850
MARKETING, TRANSPORT, INSURANCE: $750
CONTINGENCY + CROWDFUNDING FEES: $950
We’ve put together some awesome perks for this campaign, including
Free tickets!
Fancy cheese!
A beautiful book set!
A piece of futuristic flash fiction starring YOU!
Even if you can only donate $15, you’ll get both a individualized shoutout on Facebook AND a funny photo of you as a mouse posted to your FB wall. And all donations to this campaign are TAX-DEDUCTIBLE, thanks to the good folks over at Fractured Atlas.***
Every dollar donated to this campaign goes directly to supporting independent, professional artists doing their jobs and pursuing their craft. Send a clear message that art is worth supporting, that artists should be paid well for their work, and that you care about new theatre.
Even if you can’t donate, you’d be doing MOUSE a world of good by:
Spreading the word about the piece and this campaign on all of your social media platforms. Tell your friends, your enemies, your robots, your elders!
