SEND STEPHEN COHN TO THE LUCCA MUSIC FESTIVAL
I’ve been invited to be a composer in residence and represent the Los Angeles Music Community at the Lucca International Festival of Composers and Chamber Music in Lucca, Italy from July 24th to the 31st – this summer. While at the festival, I intend to talk about the community of composers here in LA and the interesting mix of art and entertainment that we create – actually bringing some attention to our music community in a place where we are not so well known or appreciated.
As a composer in residence, I will coach the ensembles in Lucca to perform my music with the high standards that we have developed together in LA. Several of my compositions will be performed. Personally, this will be a milestone for my career, as my music will heard in one of the art capitals in Europe. It will give me the opportunity to create relationships with European ensembles and open the possibility of collaborations and commissions. It has the wonderful possibility of creating prestige for my work in Europe and other areas of the world from which the other artist participants will come.

How I will use the money
The festival is providing me with an apartment for my stay in Lucca but it is up to me cover other travel expenses including air fare, train travel, food and other travel items. So, I’m appealing to you through Kickstarter for the first time. If I succeed here, then together, we can give our diverse Los Angeles Music Community important and well deserved representation at this prestigious European festival. Please contribute if you can. I would deeply appreciate your support in making this possible.
