My 3rd grade classroom is a fun filled, community atmosphere. I love challenging my students in their learning as I integrate art, science, and technology.
Our school is almost considered a Title 1 school, serving students Kindergarten-6th Grade, with 40-65% of students receiving free or reduced lunch.
I have a diverse group of 20 students! Some of them come from military backgrounds, some have learning disabilities, and some are gifted academically.
The focus in today’s classroom is about integrating across subjects. I try incorporating the arts with science and technology in my classroom every day. This allows me to empower my students to explore the world around them through creative projects, such as creating Pinwheels. This project will have my students making connections between the pinwheel and wind turbines to learn how wind energy works as we dive into our Energy unit. They will then create and make videos and animations of this experiment. With this, my students need to be comfortable and able to move and work.
With this STEM curriculum and integration of the arts, my students need the ability to be comfortable and move.
These hokki stools will allow for such freedom of movement and comfort, while I am “empowering my students through art.”
