Quality. Innovation. Craft. Redefined. Pierce Brewing Company was founded in the kitchen of Owner/Head Brewer Dean E. Pierce on March 16th, 2013. This would be where, with nothing but a mere three gallon cooking pot he brewed his first batch of beer, a big Russian Imperial Stout. However, the groundwork for this company began long before this date. Dean fell in love with craft beer in the summer of 2010, when on a family vacation to Portland, Oregon he attended the ?Portland Brewer?s Festival.? Dean would never look at beer the same way. He began attending local microbreweries and craft beer bars, developing a keen sense of taste for craft beer. Some would say this new found hobby would classify Dean as a ?beer snob? but Dean denies this title and instead lovingly refers to himself as a ?beer connoisseur.? Once he began home brewing he was instantly hooked and what started as a fun hobby quickly grew into an obsession of creating new recipes and then improving the same recipes until he was able to have a brew that he was proud to call his own. Dean began entering several local and national home brew competitions and within six months he claimed over two dozen awards for his beers, including a third place best of show finish at the Maryland Good Beer Festival for his Strong Scotch Ale. With the loving support of his significant other he started to seriously consider going professional. After much debating, Dean decided he wanted to take his home brewing skills to the next level and the rest as they say is ?history.?
