STICKROD’S BREWERY AND DISTILLERY.
In first grade, the only thing a young child is concerned about is playing in the school yard, how not to get in trouble when acting out, and how to avoid cooties from the other children whom they secretly have a crush on. Joel and Andrea Stickrod never would have thought that this established relationship at such a young age would come full circle and bring them back together after over 15 years apart, not only to start a life, but to use their passion, knowledge, creativity and love for making booze of all varieties and turning it into a family business and sharing this joy with everyone. Now if that’s not fate, what is? Andrea began her working career at The Whistle Stop Cafe when she was 14. She worked her way through college waiting tables, bartending and eventually bar managing. In 2012, she was offered a position to work for the second largest alcohol distribution company in the U.S. – RNDC – Atlanta, Georgia Division, as their Staff Mixologist/Spirits Specialist. After holding that position for a little over 2 years, with the help of her husband, she decided to quit her job, move to Nashville and set out to do what she wanted most – to open a brewery & Distillery. With her knowledge, past experiences and worldwide travels, she plans to shake Nashville up with an open mind and strong passion. She earned her CSS (Certified Specialist of Spirits) and SP (USBG Spirits Professional) titles through much studying, testing and eventually teaching. She doesn’t plan to stop her alcohol education there… Join her in her quest for the best as she experiments and gets her feedback from you all – The Ultimate Taste Testers. Joel moved to Tennessee in the fall of 2005 from Eldora, Iowa in order to pursue a degree from Middle Tennessee State University and eventually a job in the music industry. After learning to operate a sound board in high school, Joel decided he wanted to make a career out of this passion. It was his love for electronics and the physics of sound that dedicated Joel to this career. After graduating from college in the spring of 2008 Joel took a job touring with Brad Paisley, and eventually took the position as monitor engineer for Darius Rucker, where he has worked for the past 5 years. After re-meeting Andrea, together they found a new passion – home brewing. This passion soon consumed Joel’s life. Just as physics was the driving force behind Joel’s sound career, chemistry is the driving force behind his love for the brewing and distilling industry. Together, Joel and Andrea decided to start a life together as a married couple with starting this family business.
Our business focuses on traditional and experimental brews and spirits all the while using as many locally sourced ingredients as possible. All of our offerings are made in incredibly small batches with our very own hands and of course, with love. With continuously rotating taps and small batch spirit releases, you will want to join us for liquid therapy. You never know what will be in store for you to try and how long it will last. Every visit will encompass a new experience for your experimental palate. For those of you who appreciate something tried and true, we will also offer The Stickrod Signature Six, which is our collection of 6 brews that are permanently flowing in the brew pub. As for the always available spirits, we present to you: vodkas, gins, aperitifs, bitters and after aging, rum, brandy and a variety of whiskies. Additionally, we plan to have a full menu of craft pub food perfectly paired with our beers. We offer you all of these libation experiences and delicious food from a business ran with Midwestern morale and old fashioned Southern Hospitality.
