Help enable a Festival of Human Organising in London

by Human Organising Project

We want to spread the word about new ways of organising. Will you help?

Organisations are mysterious things, largely invisible to the human eye. They are also vital to our societies. The way we construct our organisations makes a huge difference to the way our lives and our societies work. It affects how we relate to others and to the world.

Many of our traditional ways of organising are falling short in confronting the social and environmental challenges of the 21st Century. They are too inflexible, too constraining, too short-sighted. We need more liberating, fluid and particaptory approaches. The good news is that this is happening, as activists and entrepreneurs around the world experiment with new approaches. It is time to shout about it.

The festival will be a celebration of more participatory, fluid and human ways of organising. It will take place in various venues around London from 16th to 18th June 2016. The festival will bring together leading thinkers and activists in this field, to share and celebrate. It promises to be open, fun and spontaneous. It will close with a shared space, with shared food, in the open in Green Park on the Saturday evening.

If it works well, we imagine the festival may spread around the UK and elsewhere. Please help us to make this festival a success, and help build the foundations for future Human Organising festivals.

We have been funded largely by volunteers up to now but need some minimal funding to cover mainly marketing costs.

What is the social/environmental problem/issue that this project will address?

The project is addressing the problem of how businesses and other institutions are organised. Old, top-down hierarchical models encourage a top-down, exploitative attitude to others in society and to life as a whole.

What is your solution?

To explore and promote more open, participatory ways of organising. These have been known to humans for millennia, and are starting to be adopted by businesses and other organisations.

How will you deliver this?

We’re organising a festival in London, from Thursday 16th June to Saturday 18th June, which will be a celebration of these more human ways of organising. Spontaneous, free-flowing and fun, it will provide a forum where people can share and celebrate these more human ways of organising.
