Siyavutha (we are burning) Gas is a startup in need of a delivery vehicle. We are are currently bursting at the seams and a vehicle will enable us to take things to the “next level”. We deliver at affordable prices to areas of Cape Town that are not easily serviced by the larger gas companies. We also strive to deliver quickly – when you’ve run out of gas, you don’t want to wait! Your contribution will help this entrepreneur turn his dream into reality and provide a valuable economic service.
I saw an opportunity in the market, schools were struggling to get gas delivered to them at an affordable price. In Gugulethu and other communities people have to travel via public transport with their gas cylinders to the nearest town or city where they can get refills and then travel back to the community with their full cylinder and then walk home carrying up to 25kg.
Who are we
I’m an entrepreneur born and raised in the streets of Gugulethu. I grew up in a home where entrepreneurship was encouraged; at an early age I helped with the family business of selling meat to the community of Khayelitsha. I have successfully completed entrepreneurship studies at Tsiba Education and the Raymond Ackerman Academy of Entrepreneurial Development.
My desire to create new opportunities, my networking capabilities and my preference not to work a “9 to 5” has led me into various entrepreneurial ventures, all of which have been very community focused.
Most recently I have started a gas delivery business, it is 3 months old to date and we growing stronger every day!
More about the project
Areas like Gugulethu are not well-serviced by larger gas companies. We are adding value by delivering gas at competitive prices to schools, restaurants and households. Our customers are no longer waiting days or standing in long queues when the gas has run out!
Business is going well, and has quickly become constrained by our capacity to do deliveries. Having my own vehicle will enable me to take the business to both a larger number of customers as well as customers further afield.
Our milestones
In order for my business to take the next step, I’m asking for help of R65,000 to purchase a reliable, second-hand bakkie.
I’m a hard-working young person, passionate about what I put my hand to. I can handle pressure :) I’m the proverbial “peoples’ person” and have the knack of selling. Outside of work, I’m into soccer, the outdoors and reading. Oh, and I love a challenge!
