Finance sector ECM volume stood at $13.4bn in 1Q 2016, down 71% on 1Q 2015 ($46.0bn) and the lowest 1Q total since 2013 ($11.7bn). 1Q 2015 volume was boosted by Santander’s $8.0bn follow-on, the largest ECM deal globally in full year 2015

Globally, the sector accounted for 29% of global IPO volume with $4.0bn in 1Q 2016, the highest 1Q share since 2008 (70%) and up from 13 percentage points on 1Q 2015 (16%). Despite the increase in share, volume was down 40% year-on-year and represents the lowest 1Q total since 2013 ($1.5bn)
