Frank Evans is a beloved member of the New York Musical Theater Community and Artistic Director of Manhattan Musical Theatre Lab, as well as being an accomplished lyricist and musical book writer. This past December, after being fairly ill for several months, Frank had a serious accident in Brooklyn that landed him in the hospital and then a nursing home. During Frank’s stay in the nursing home over the next three months, friends who had access to his personal records at his apartment determined that he was struggling with various health issues for a long time and had accumulated a mountain of debt on a number of levels, including back rent, credit cards, and medical bills, which (in spite of being on Medicare) have increased greatly since his accident. In addition, the nursing home released Frank on April 5 and in the interim his friend Stephen Hanks has moved him in to live with him and his family until the goal of getting Frank on Medicaid and back to his apartment in Greenwich Village with a home care aid is accomplished. But his apartment has been in need of serious repair and cleaning and that has generated additional expenses. Not to mention, Stephen will be incurring a lot of expenses taking care of Frank at his home. We are trying to minimize the financial hit to Frank as much as possible so there is some kind of nest egg–as limited as that may be–when he finally gets back to his apartment. A number of Frank’s friends and family have already contributed to helping pay for some expenses, but we feel this fundraising drive is necessary to keep a nice amount in the kitty for bills and unforeseen expenses. Anything you can do to help will be much appreciated.
