Ecuador Earthquake Relief

 Ecuador was hit by a 7.8 Earthquake on Saturday April 16 2016. 6 Provinces in the coast are severely affected over 400 people are dead, hundreds of others are missing and there are thousands of injured residents.

This is an Initiative of the Ecuadorian Students Association’s at the Australian National University and the University of Queensland

The magnitude-7.8 quake struck on Saturday evening. Coastal areas in the north-west were closest to the epicentre. There have been about 230 aftershocks across the country.The quake is Ecuador’s most powerful in decades.

OVER 400 people are reported dead and more than 2000 people have been treated for injuries at tents, with many others taken by ambulance or helicopter to regional hospitals.  Stadiums have also served as makeshift morgues,  with several bodies taken there.

Teams from Switzerland, Spain and several Latin American countries have arrived to join the search effort.
