Overview
Cumulus Energy Storage aims to be the grid-level energy storage battery manufacturer
with the lowest cost battery technology, globally.
Problem
The electricity grid isn’t designed to accommodate the increasing percentage of the variable and intermittent renewable generation. It needs a buffer and at present the only low-cost solution is pumped hydro. All extra energy is wasted if it isn’t captured and stored.
Solution
A flexible and scalable 1-100MWh grid-level battery (copper/zinc) which can capture and store excess energy, cost-effectively.
Achievements to date
UK patent granted and international (PCT) patent pending.
Cumulus Energy Storage has been awarded an £800k grant from the UK government
raised £250k in seed funding.
