Hi – this is Chris and Ruth from Lao Kids (www.facebook.com/LaoKids/ and www.Lao-Kids.org)
Chantha, the wonderful Head Librarian at the Luang Prabang Library, has been diagnosed with lymphoma of the spleen. She needs to go to Chiang Mai, Thailand each month for treatment, which requires being hospitalized for 3 to 4 days each time. There will be at least 6 treatments, maybe more.
She is very ill and has lost a lot of weight.
Chantha is the absolute reason Lao Kids has been successful in operating the Tuk Tuk Library and providing books to rural schools. We couldn’t have done it without her organising everything and being the central liaison person between Lao Kids and the schools.
The last thing Chantha needs to worry about is finding the money to enable her to get treatment. As she has given so much of her life to help others, we thought that people might now like to be able to help her.
We have found out that each dose of chemotherapy, which is administered over 3 days, costs over US$1000. And round trip airfares are about US$350 per person.
So any donation, no matter how large or small, is very welcome.
Please leave us a comment on the “Make a Donation” page. All comments will be printed out and Ruth will take them to Chantha.
Thank you everyone.
