I’m building a programme for youth aged 12 – 15. That explores low self-worth through photography activities
About this project
About My Project
Research shows 47% of 15 year olds have been bullied sometimes or often in the school year. Invariably, these young people have low self-esteem. This causes them to have feelings ofshame, worthlessness and fear. I want to empower young people to gain a sense of belonging.
I’ve interviewed youth aged 12 – 15 and 35 out of 50 showed interest in a photography programme. They believed this would benefit them in some way and help overcome some of life’s challenges.
I’m building a programme for youth aged twelve to fifteen called Triple R Youth – Reflect, Resolve, Restore. It will provide a safe and supportive environment where youth grow positive self-identity, build resilience and promote healthy self-expression through photography. It explores self-belief through reflection which reveals ones self-confidence. We’ll restore positive self-worth and have the ability to sustain it in the future.
