LEADERSHIP
Born and raised in Mexico City, Karla received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the Universidad Anahuac de Mexico as well as receiving her Master’s degree in Educational Technology. She formed her first company in Event Planning, where her talents of organization, attention to detail, creative imagination, concept design and contagious enthusiasm earned her a reputation for unparalleled excellence as an event planner. Moving to Los Angeles in 1999, Karla received a Certification in Post Production from UCLA’s School of Film, where she studied high-end production value content for music videos, documentary films and adventure sports, as well as corporate and product videos. Karla is skilled in all operations of lighting, camera work and editing and is experienced with HD and Digital Cinema production systems. In 2011, Karla was officially certified as a Master Mezcalier by Comercam, the Mexican government’s tequila and mezcal regulatory agency. She is currently CEO and founder of The Mezco Group, a Los Angeles based company specializing in the marketing and brand management of mezcal. The Mezco Group has strategically positioned itself and has become one of the only companies in North America to successfully devise a blueprint for introducing this trending spirits category for a new brand into the relatively untapped US market. The Mezco Group has developed strong affiliate partnerships with importers and distributors in the US and Mexico. In 2014 Karla formed her partnership with fellow mezcal enthusiast Daniel Lubert and created the mezcal brand Santo Diablo Mezcal. In November 2015, Santo Diablo made its debut in the United States and has quickly become a renowned spirit in southern California, with rapid expansion planned for Europe and Asia. Karla lives in Los Angeles with her family and her two dogs.
As Co-Founder and Joint Chairman of The First Group (www.thefirstgroup.com), a Dubai-based international hotel developer, Danny has more than 30 years of continuous success as a serial entrepreneur and investor. Danny’s devotion to the global property market and aptitude for detecting emerging markets has proved extremely successful, taking the group of companies to the United Kingdom, Spain, Cyprus, South East Asia, West Africa, CIS countries, the United Arab Emirates and the US. Danny has been instrumental in negotiating and structuring financial transactions, as well as driving the marketing, branding and business development strategies for a multitude of early stage start-up companies in Los Angeles. He has evaluated and invested in over a dozen venture opportunities. With his guidance, core philosophies and strong principles, he has driven the strategic growth and direction of both the firm and its portfolios through his principles of empowerment, hard work and integrity. By making calculated and tactical investments, he has consistently delivered on commitments made to deal partners, investment bankers and lenders through his ability to execute. With a background in commerce and mathematics, Danny specializes in financial structuring, acquisition and marketing. Danny lives in Beverly Hills with his wife and four children.
Mr. Eagan is a serial entrepreneur who has built and sold profitable companies since 1998. His career spans 21 years in Los Angeles, running day-to-day operations and managing hundreds of employees. As Vice President of Operations, Mr. Eagan is responsible for the day to day operations and growth of Santo Diablo Mezcal, including market positioning, branding and strategic planning. Brian lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two children.
