Give hope to the abandoned and vulnerable dogs of Hong Kong (Rescue & re-home abandoned, unwanted dogs of Hong Kong.)

The Story

A group of dedicated global citizens, who dream big enough, can make a difference. Are you one of them? Asia has a poor reputation concerning animal welfare but there are certain organisations trying to change this view. Since 2003 the Hong Kong Dog Rescue (HKDR) charity (#91/7544) has worked hard to rescue, rehabilitate & re-home abandoned & unwanted dogs. HKDR is proud to be a fully “No Kill” organisation meaning that no dog under their care will be euthanised for any reason other than when it is the only humane option. Their pledge to every dog is a home for life.
HKDR are currently caring for about 600+ dogs & puppies but are regularly asked to take more dogs. Heartbreakingly, they have absolutely no more room & facilities to take many more. In 2010 a site had been very generously loaned to them by a private benefactor on a temporary basis. The search for a permanent facility to home their many dogs is ongoing, & until such a place has been found the whole future of HKDR remains uncertain. Their current facilities are in desperate need of renovating & upgrading. HKDR need the finances to carry out these shelter renovations & replace their worn out transportation so they do not have to turn away any more dogs. Since its inception, HKDR has cared for & successfully homed more than 7500 dogs. Will you donate now to help HKDR reach their goal of changing the lives of more dogs & puppies?

The HKDR is currently gathering estimates for the structural engineering, design & re-build of the current shelter facilities. This will be published as soon as available. The immediate need is to replace the worn out transportation to pick up dogs from the government compounds & regular visits to the vet.

To encourage you to donate, from the 14th February 2016 to 27th February 2017 I will run, jog & crawl 2000km. This will also include me participating in competitive 10km & half marathons & finishing with me (hopefully) taking part in the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon on the 27th February 2017.I will donate the equivalent of all the costs involved in participating in these competitions to this fundraiser. Will you match my donations? All donations of this fundraiser goes directly to the HKDR. All donations in USD.
