Filmmaker and food nut Art Citron brings together his love for food, filmmaking and learning about food visits great chef’s kitchens.
I grew up in the kitchen learning from my mom and grand moms, all fantastic cooks so I guess I always had a love of cooking. In college I worked as a cook in several kitchens and met some awesome people. I also always had a passion for film, and after a detour as a doctor want to be (my parent’s wish) I left the sciences and went into the arts, and found myself in the film department.
Fast forward years later and I’m a TV and film editor and producer and have made several low budget films along the way, but the desire for making food still has a hold of me. I LOVE cooking and try to do it as often as I can for my family and friends. Bald Guy in the Kitchen combines my calling as a filmmaker with my passion for food.
I love how cooking food unites people and how different cultures influence our society through their food. I love the passion and fun of Guy Fieri on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, and the mouth-watering creations by Giada DeLaurentis or Bobby Flay. And I also love my local, equally talented though not as well know chefs as well. In each episode I’m going to visit a restaurant and apprentice myself to a culinary master and learn a technique, recipe or idea… then I’ll take that knowledge home and try it out on my family and friends (and even let my chef/teacher sample my work).
Because I’m not a professional cook, sometimes things might go wrong… that’s where the fun happens. This is what I think a food show should be about. If you agree, I hope you’ll support me…
So far, I’ve only shot some initial footage for my shows and I’ve shot and edited basically everything myself. My strengths as a producer and editor are pretty much there, I’m in need of a crew and equipment if I can really create the show that I see. The creation of the show is quite a challenge if you’re not only the camera and sound guy, but the on air talent as well. In order to make Bald Guy in the Kitchen have a quality look and sound, I’ll need to hire a cameraman, sound guy too.
