I have live all my life in Houston, Texas. Became a mom at 17, and have been a stay at home mom for 22 years and am now about to be 39 years old with 4 kids and married for 24 years. My oldest is now 22 with a 3 month old daughter and my youngest is 15. 3 girls and 1 boy. 2 kids graduated and in college and working and my younger 2 in high school so I started about 4 years ago selling wholesale boutique clothing as my kids were getting older and had a lot more time on my hands.
I also started making headbands and bows and started learning to sew and now I am selling beads to other boutique owners to make finished children’s chunky necklaces and make necklaces myself. I would like to expand more into having a brick and mortar store offering all my handmade jewelry as well as handmade clothing items for children. I love creating and love coming up with new ideas and making unique items.
I started 4 years ago as my kids got older and graduating and got into selling wholesale boutique clothing for kids from different suppliers and decided I had a knack for making tutus, headbands, hair bows and jewelry for kids. I also started selling beads and findings wholesale to other boutique owners but my passion is still creating and dream to have my own store. I learned how to sew along the way and continue to learn new techniques on making my items more appealing to my customers.
I would like to expand into handmade jewelry for ladies as well as handmade boutique clothing made by me. The biggest challenge at the moment is getting more inventory and more supplies to be able to expand into a brick and mortar. I love the fact that I can keep creating and coming up with new ideas as the customers taste changes.
I will be buying:
Fabric ($400)
A sewing machine ($350)
Serger ($1,000)
Embroidery machine ($1,000)
Supplies to expand into children’s boutique clothing as well as beads and findings ($1500) for more children and women’s jewelry line.
I will be able to buy the items I need to expand as well as appeal to wider range of customers and then go on to be able to create an online website to reach a broader audience which puts me closer to my next step so that I can have my own boutique shop.
