My name is Kelly, and together with my Partner David, and our Daughter, we have a vision of a Nordic Nature Camp in Lapland.
David’s Ancestors are of Scandinavian Descent, and for many years as a family, we have been interested in the Polar Regions.
We have been lucky enough to realise a dream last Christmas of spending the festive season in Lapland, and we are now even more in love with the place than before. We sacrificed all other treats, and many things to spend just 5 days in The Arctic Circle.
I had to take redundancy from my job as a Travel Agent in 2012 due to complications resulting from corrective Orthopeadic Surgery for Cerebral Palsy. My earning potential has been wiped out due to my health, meaning we are unable to raise the finaces required on just one salary. I can’t wear flip flops due to my condition, so the sun drenched beach as standard destination is no good to me…But in snow boots, I am unstoppable ! As a former Travel Agent, we have a big dream to bring the magic of Lapland to many, not just the few who can afford to pay thousands for only a few days. We want to allow people to experience the breath taking beauty of Lapland, and all it has to offer, without it been out of financial reach for most people.
David wants to teach Arctic Survival Techniques, and I want to feed people good, home cooked food surrounded by some of the most beautiful sights they will ever see.
There are 190,000 lakes in Lapland…That all freeze over and provide perfect ice skating rinks, ice fishing areas etc
We want to have a small place, where we can offer trekking, fishing, camping, holidays…With a petting zoo on site for the children. Glass igloo’s and a Northern Lights viewing room will also be added once renovation is completed.
We have found the perfect propery from which to run our business, but it is a project in need of renovation.
Lapland is marketed by the big name travel companies as “The home of Father Christmas”…But there is so much more to it than that.
I have personally, and collectively in a small group, raised over £40,000 for various local and national charities in the last 2 years…Including having my head shaved, and my hair used to make real hair wigs for children with cancer. Now it’s my turn to ask for help. I have endured 27 operations relating to my condition. I want to live a life without any more surgical intervention.
We are not interested in taking on the travel giants, and competing for business…We want a small family business with a secure future for our Daughter…And an open door policy for all of our family and friends.
We love the outdoors, and firmly believe that there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing.
We are clinging on to the concept of “Build it…And they will come”…
Bespoke packages will me made available.
Dicounts available to all who pledge to our business.
Please help us, we are good people with a BIG dream, and even bigger ambitions
