(TEL AVIV, ISRAEL) – January 26, 2016 – Just in Case (#justincase) today introduced its flagship product, a slim, elegantly designed case (#case) for iPhone (#iphone) that doesn’t let on to what it actually does – instantly record any call (#recordanycall) or in-person conversation without the need to connect to an app or external recording source. Available for iPhone 5 and above, Just in Case will be available in the following colors: red, blue, yellow, green and black. The Indiegogo (#indiegogo) campaign launches today with a funding goal of $25,000USD and features limited Early Bird specials of $29.99 USD (for one Just in Case). People can contribute to the campaign and order a Just in Case iPhone case (#iphonecase) now at: http://igg.me/at/justincase.
The case, which allows users to initiate recording at any point during a call (with app/conference call solutions, users must record the entire conversation from beginning to end), features an easy-to-use, simple 2-button interface: one for “record” and one for “play.” Just in Case can also function as an incognito stand-alone recorder that can record in-person conversations not made via the user’s iPhone.
Featuring recording components specifically designed for high-quality recording (of both sides of the conversation) while maintaining a slim and unassuming profile, users will no longer need to connect to an external conference call service or via an app to record conversations. All audio files are stored on the included 2GB microSD card (user can use their own microSD card to increase or customize storage options) and not on the user’s iPhone or 3rd party data storage service for ultimate control of the recordings. Additionally there is no payment per minute to record or playback calls as the user owns and controls all the data. Timestamps of each recording are stored in a log file on the microSD card.
Just in Case, which features a self-contained battery, provides up to eight hours of recording time, and when in “sleep mode,” up to a year of standby power when not in use. For users, this also means that Just in Case does not draw any power from the user’s iPhone and has its own charging port.
“JIC was born out of a clear and compelling need to provide a solution to the iPhone’s greatest weakness – recording conversations in real time,” said John Davis, director of strategy at Just in Case. “Almost 1 billion iPhones are in circulation in the world and none of them are able to easily record conversations. We invested a full year of development in order to create the ultimate iPhone complement and now we are thrilled to finally provide users the opportunity to complete their iPhone.”
“With app or conference call solutions, users have to connect to an external server prior to recording,” said Oshri Farhat, CEO at Just In Case. “In fact, most times you want to record, you don’t realize this in advance. With Just in Case, users can instantly record 100’s of hours of conversations whenever they want.”
Statement of legality from Oshri Farhat, CEO at Just In Case, “The case is a separate device from the smartphone itself and is therefore just like any other multi-purpose recording device such as a pen, watch, thumb drive, key chain, etc. Recording devices are legal to sell and own in the US, but the legality of use of such devices for recording conversations in various situations depends on particular state law. The case will ship with a clear disclaimer that the user is responsible for clarifying his/her state’s law and adhering to it. The RFCP’s state-by-state guide to recording laws provides a recent, comprehensive introduction to US recording laws but it is meant only as a general introduction and individuals who have further questions about the legality of recording in various situations should contact an attorney in their state.”
