The Yorick Theatre Company first arose from one man’s passion. This passion led to a unique service partnership between local performers and the management of St. John’s Church on Christopher Street in the West Village. In exchange for use of the church’s sanctuary as a performing venue, company members are providing free workshops for homeless youth through programs operated by New Alternatives, a non-profit group that provides support services and recreational activities to young people who are transitioning out of the shelter system.
We are a collaborative ensemble committed to serving our community. Our inaugural theatrical production will be an Equity Approved Showcase of The Winter’s Tale by William Shakespeare. Our production will have 10 performances in February 2016 to be held in the sanctuary of St John’s Church at 81 Christopher Street in the West Village. We have an incredibly talented cast lined up and our Director, Everett Quinton, was recently hailed by the New York Times as “a genius”. Through your support not only will you be a part of sharing this genius’ vision with our audience, but we will be able to pay our actors and staff and most importantly we will be able to continue our work within our community.
It cannot happen without outside financial help!
