Facing Homelessness: providing all of us with the opportunity to creatively get involved

iCrowdNewswire - Dec 29, 2015

Facing Homelessness

When confronted with those suffering through homelessness, we often find ourselves overwhelmed and left feeling at a loss for what to do.

It does not have to be this way.

Facing Homelessness,  a 501(c)3 nonprofit charity, is providing all of us with the opportunity to creatively get involved. When we are ALL involved we will end the suffering of homelessness.

How do we do this?

The FIRST step is to raise your own awareness.

Our ‘Homeless in Seattle’ Facebook community page,  which has over 29,000 active followers representing 45 countries, shares images and personal stories of those suffering through homelessness. This community page is a place to begin, to listen to those that otherwise feel invisible and are without a voice, an entry point for you into the overwhelming conversation on homelessness.

In the six years that we have been making requests on the Facebook page for those living on the street, everything from sleeping bags, to boots, tents, bicycles, musical instruments, almost anything you can imagine, has been met by this compassionate community. It has been a magical empathy wishing well for those living on our streets!

The SECOND step is to put action to your awareness.

We encourage everyone to answer these two questions: What are you good at and what are you passionate about? We help people combine these two answers into a life project for those suffering through homelessness.

ASK us how we can help you begin your own creative compassionate journey!

Please support our plans for expanding our current office space into a community gathering place where folks living on the street and folks living in homes can come together and create connection and friendship.

We are ASKING our community to help raise $50,000 in support of this direct hands-on approach for getting everyone involved in the task of ending homelessness. Please help us continue the movement underway for healing the separations in our community. We can do this but we need you!

If you have any questions about our continued mission on ending homelessness through community, please call our office at 206-632-7299.  You can learn more about who we are at http://www.facinghomelessness.org/
