The Bookbinding Bus

The Bookbinding Bus

To purchase and equip an ex-council mobile library to take bookbinding workshops out into the community.

The Bookbinding Bus is an exciting new not-for-profit project to bring the craft of bookbinding to schools, city centres, music and literary festivals. It is now not possible to study for an accredited course in bookbinding anywhere in the UK.

The tutor is Kate Holland. Kate is a Fellow of Designer Bookbinders with bindings in private and public collections worldwide including the British and Bodleian Libraries. She has huge experience teaching bookbinding workshops to all ages.

Making fosters wellbeing. It is a vital part of being human. All over the country, people are rediscovering what our ancestors knew – that making something with your own hands gives you satisfaction, pleasure, solace…it’s the perfect therapy for the age we live in.
